After three rounds of tennis on Monday, the NHIAA girls state singles tournament is down to the final four individuals.
Julia Keenan of St. Thomas, the No. 1 overall seed, will take on Bow’s Sunday Swett, the No. 4 seed. In the other semifinal, No. 2 seed Kelli Murphy of Londonderry faces No. 3 Margaret Teague of Manchester Central. Those matches begin at 3 p.m. at the Derryfield School and Southern New Hampshire University on Thursday, with the winners playing in the final after.
Nashua South’s Hannah Drake turned in the best performance among local players. Drake, who was the No. 7 seed, received a bye into the second round after Exeter’s Emily Meade withdrew and advanced to the third round when Bedford’s Mackenzie Phelps withdrew due to injury. Drake then lost to Keenan, 6-1 and 6-0.
Jennifer Dai of Bishop Guertin advanced to the second round, beating Derryfield’s Emily Mastrogiacomo 8-0. Dai then lost to Keenan in the second round, 8-1.
Bedford’s Kirsten Jean, who was seeded eighth, defeated Souhegan’s Emily Readdy 8-3, but was upset by Karina Menard of St. Thomas in the second round, 8-2. Menard also beat BG’s Wendy Xiao in the first round 8-1.
