
Colin Delea and the Bishop Guertin boys lacrosse team will be looking for its third straight Division I title.
The high school boys lacrosse quarterfinals are scheduled to begin on Thursday, and two area teams enter as No. 1 seeds.
Bishop Guertin, the two-time defending Division I champion, lost just once within in the division during the regular season and is the top seed. Bedford went undefeated during the regular season and will be the top seed in Division II. Derryfield, the top seed in Division III, also enters tournament play unbeaten.
Division I
Bishop Guertin (11-1) will begin its title defense as the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Manchester Central (6-10) in the quarterfinals Thursday at 5 p.m. at Stellos Stadium. The Cardinals defeated the Little Green 20-3 on April 30.
The winner of that game will face either No. 4 Pinkerton (10-3) or No. 5 Exeter (10-5), who will play at 5 p.m. Thursday in Derry. Bishop Guertin and Pinkerton have played in the last two championship games.
No. 6 Nashua North (7-6) is making its first postseason appearance in program history and will travel to face No. 3 Hanover (10-3) at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Marauders defeated the Titans 15-6 on May 10.
The winner gets to take on either No. 2 Londonderry (11-3) or No. 7 Nashua South (7-7). The Lancers defeated the Panthers 10-4 on April 19.
The semifinals are scheduled for June 3, starting at 5 p.m., at Bedford High School. The final is set for June 6 at 7 p.m., also at Bedford.
Division II
No. 1 Bedford enters the playoffs unbeaten (14-0 in division, 16-0 overall) and will take on No 8 Dover (7-7), last year’s champion, in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs won the regular-season meeting, 13-4, on April 25.
The winner of that game will face either No. 5 Souhegan (10-4), last year’s runner-up, or No. 4 Portsmouth (10-4), who will play at 5 p.m. Thursday on the seacoast. Souhegan won the lone meeting in the regular season, 11-10.
No. 2 Bow (12-2) will host No. 7 Winnacunnet (8-6) in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. on Thursday, and the winner of that game will face either No. 6 Goffstown (10-4) or No. 3 St. Thomas (11-3). The Grizzlies and Saints will also play at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
The semifinals are scheduled for June 2, starting at 6 p.m., at Exeter High School, and the final will be June 5 at 7 p.m., also at Exeter.
Division III
The Division III tournament began with four preliminary round games on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Windham, Gilford, Hopkinton and Monadnock all advancing to the quarterfinals.
Hollis Brookline (13-2) earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament, and will host No. 6 Monadnock (11-4) at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The Cavaliers won the only regular-season meeting 15-5 on April 16.
The winner will take on either No. 7 Hopkinton (9-5) or No. 2 Plymouth (13-1), which also play Thursday at 5 p.m., in the semifinals.
Derryfield (14-0) is the top seed and will host No. 8 Windham (11-5) at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The winner of that game will face the winner of No. 4 Pelham (12-2) and No. 5 Gilford (11-4), who also play at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The semifinals are scheduled for June 2, starting at 5 p.m., at Stellos Stadium in Nashua. The final will also be held at Stellos, at 7 p.m. on June 5.
