Both the Bishop Guertin and Souhegan boys hockey teams won their quarterfinal games on Saturday, and advanced to the semifinals.
Merrimack and Hollis/Brookline both saw their season come to an end with a quarterfinal loss on Saturday.
Bishop Guertin, the top seed in Division I, held on for a 4-3 win over No. 8 Manchester Central. Josh Dobbins made 18 saves, including one late that preserved the win. Tom Newton scored what proved to be the game-winning goal while Brian Bottari, Chris Keating and Greg Girtatos also scored.
The Cardinals will face No. 4 Concord in the semifinals on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Manchester.
In the Division II quarterfinals, No. 5 Merrimack fell to No. 4 Timberlane for the first time this season, 4-2. The Tomahawks had beaten the Owls in both regular season games this year, including a 4-3 win on Feb. 25 that snapped Merrimack’s six-game losing streak.
Tyler Caron scored both Merrimack goals and Brett Glendye made 27 saves.
No. 5 Souhegan advanced to the Division III semifinals for the sixth straight year by defeating No. 4 John Stark, 3-1, on Saturday. The Sabers got two goals from Quinn Carroll and Erik Hayden made 25 saves in net.
Souhegan will face No. 1 Kennett on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Concord. The two teams will meet in the playoffs for the fourth straight year. Last year, the Eagles defeated the Sabers in the championship game. In 2008, Souhegan won its third-straight title by beating Kennett, and in 2007, the Sabers upset the top-seeded Eagles in the semifinals.
Also in Division III, No. 7 Hollis/Brookline fell to No. 2 Bedford, 4-1. Jake Hahnl made 31 saves for the Cavaliers and Tommy Kyrias had the lone goal.
Trevor Sonovick, Michael Ahern, Kevin Shaugnessy and Samuel Pelletier each had a goal for Bedford.
