The NHIAA held the Alpine skiing boys championships this week at various locations. On Tuesday, the Division I championship was held at Mount Sunapee, the Division II meet was at Waterville Valley and the Division III meet took place at Gunstock. The Division IV meet was on Monday at Loon Mountain.
Division I
Concord won its sixth straight championship, finishing first overall with 757 points, followed by Keene (720) and Exeter (612). Bishop Guertin finished fourth 611 points and Goffstown (601 1/2) was fifth. Nashua North (506 1/2) took ninth and Nashua South (473) was 10th. Merrimack (433) finished 15th.
John Scheetz of Bishop Guertin was the top local finisher in the Giant Slalom, coming in fifth. Teammate Wes Flanagan was next, finishing 18th, while Spencer Nelson of North was 31st and Tim Perez of Merrimack was 32nd. Brandon Ossinger was South’s top finisher, placing 40th.
Bishop Guertin also had the top local in the Slalom, with Tucker Gettel coming in fifth overall. Nelson finished 20th while Perez was 23rd and Bishop Guertin’s Chris DiCesare was 24th. Flanagan also came in 28th.
Division II
Kennett took first overall to win its sixth Division II title in the last seven years. The Eagles recorded 774 1/2 points to finish ahead of second-place Plymouth (749 1/2) and third-place Bedford (637).
Hollis/Brookline (630) finished fourth and Souhegan (616) came in fifth while Milford (433) finished 11th.
Ben Lambert of Milford was the top local finisher in the Giant Slalom, finishing fifth overall. Also finishing in the top 10 was Hollis/Brookline’s Erik Lafrance, who was ninth.
Souhegan’s Tucker Brown finished 15th and teammate Alexander Kempf finished 17th. Pat Doyle of H/B was 22nd and Scott Doyle of Souhegan came in 23rd.
Lafrance was the top local in the Slalom, finished sixth. Scott Doyle came in 20th and H/B’s Evan Cooke took 23rd. Souhegan’s Mike Barrett came in 30th and Matt Comstock finished 31st for the Sabers.
Division III
Bow finished first with a total of 759 points, edging second-place Gilford (755) by four points. Kearsarge came in third with 729 points while Bishop Brady (662) was fourth and Belmont (658) came in fifth.
Division IV
Derryfield recorded 733 points to win the Division IV championship. Profile, which had won the previous six Division IV titles, finished second with 718 points and Lin-Wood came in third with 705. Gorham (700) took fourth and Hopkinton (625) was fifth.
