Two squads with championship dreams will meet on the softball field on Friday in a battle of top five teams in Class L.
Alvirne (11-2) will host Spaulding of Rochester (8-3) in Hudson at 4 p.m. on Friday in a game that could go a long way toward determining home field for the first two rounds of the postseason. The top four teams in the class would get their first two playoff games at home; right now, Alvirne is second and Spaulding fifth.
The Broncos have won four in a row and nine of their last 10, with their last loss coming on April 30 in a 3-2 decision against Nashua North. That game also happens to be the last time Alvirne has allowed an opponent to score a run, as all four wins during the Broncos’ streak have been shutouts.
Spaulding had won seven straight before losing to Manchester Central on Monday.
Both teams will play on Wednesday – Alvirne heads to Central while Spaulding hosts Goffstown – before they meet on Friday.
