Fall preview: Hollis/Brookline volleyball

The Hollis/Brookline High School volleyball team is taking on a new challenge.

The Cavaliers are coming off an undefeated season in Division II, having won their third title in six championship match appearances over the last eight years, and are moving up to Division I.

“We’re excited about this move up and looking forward to challenges and competition that it will bring our program,” H/B coach Becky Balfour said, who is entering her 11th season as the Cavs head coach.

As always seems to be the case, H/B has a strong corps of returning players, led by seniors Hanna Mazzola and Julia Stopera and juniors Ari Creighton and Kristyn Glover, who were all starters a year ago. Also returning are seniors Katie Barrett, Noelle Kotelly and Kelsey Krupp, along with junior Liz Russell.

The Cavs will also look for contributions from senior Sarah Rollman, junior Kelsey Berry and sophomores Kaitlyn Atkinson, Kayley Costa, Kellie Messer and Kenzie Whalen.

H/B opens its season on Tuesday at Salem.
