Lancers’ lone goal sinks Titans

Lancers’ lone goal sinks Titans

NASHUA – The goal was unbelievable. Not unbelievable in the sense that it was a spectacular move, but more because it happened in the blink of an eye. It was so unbelievable that one Nashua High School North boys soccer player held up his hands, looking to an official, figuring that something had to have been done wrong. Another just fell [...]

Fall preview: Nashua North boys soccer

Rick Carvalho knew he couldn’t just tell his boys soccer team it could be good. The first-year Nashua High School North coach had to let the players see it for themselves. With only a week of practice under their belts, the Titans scrimmaged Hollis/Brookline on Monday, and after falling behind early, North rallied for a strong finish. [...]

North-BG scrimmage goes well for both sides

North-BG scrimmage goes well for both sides

NASHUA – The preseason isn’t about winning. It’s about finding out how to win when it finally counts. That’s how Bishop Guertin High School football coach Tony Johnson summed up Saturday’s scrimmage against Nashua North at Stellos Stadium. Although plenty of fans would love to see the teams play in a competitive game, both Johnson [...]

North’s Gathright hungry for another chance

North’s Gathright hungry for another chance

To say the play on which Jahmar Gathright was hurt last season was a fluke wouldn’t be right. It was certainly a fluke, but it didn’t happen on anything close to a play. If it had been, perhaps Gathright would have been OK. (more...)

North sophomore Cooper Doucette suffered a broken neck during practice and was scheduled for surgery at Children's Hospital in Boston, where he has been since Saturday. According to a [...]

Cards putting the pieces together

NASHUA – Tony Johnson likes to have around 20 players from each class on the Bishop Guertin High School football team. The Cardinals coach had that and more when it came to seniors on the 2009 team, which won its second-straight Division II title. Of the 34 graduated players, 16 were starters on either side of the ball. While there are [...]

Titans get started on new season

NASHUA – Jason Robie stood with over a hundred sweaty high school kids around him. The Nashua High School North football coach talked to his prospective players while they caught their breath and chugged some water, telling them that every football team in the state was doing the same thing they were Wednesday morning. (more...)

Aug. 11 is the first day football teams can practice, with the first games of the season scheduled for Sept. 3. For a list of when local teams [...]
