Meyer calls reporter a ‘bad guy’

Ask most head coaches what their least favorite part of the job is, and the majority would probably tell you it’s dealing with the media.

Big (L)East in basketball too?

Big East basketball has a long way to go to earn the comparison to its football counterparts from a decade ago. But after last weekend, the conference certainly isn’t what it everything thought it was.

By all accounts, it was the most disappointing performance by any collection of teams in the first weekend of this year’s NCAA Tournament.

When you get five teams with a No. 3 seed or higher, most of them are supposed to survive beyond the first two rounds. Instead, only Syracuse – No. 1 in the West – and West Virginia – No. 2 in the East – are the only ones left standing as the tournament moves to the Sweet 16, starting Thursday.

Sporting News names Wall best freshman

In what probably shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, The Sporting News named Kentucky’s John Wall as its Freshman of the Year.

Joining Wall on the publication’s All-Freshman team are Wildcats teammate DeMarcus Cousins, Kansas guard Xavier Henry, Georgia Tech forward Derrick Favors and Arizona forward Derrick Williams.
