Earlier Monday, there were reports that Detroit Tigers outfielder Johnny Damon had been placed on waivers and claimed by an unidentified team.
Now, Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated is saying it was the Red Sox who claimed Damon. However, Damon has eight teams to which he can be assigned, and Boston is not one of them.

There was plenty going on in the sports world on Wednesday, from Serena Williams losing in the French Open, to Ken Griffey, Jr., calling it quits, to the Flyers winning Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals in overtime.
